Wha'chu talkin bout Willis?

The Nailers signed former NHL forward Shane Willis as a player/assistant coach.

Willis, 31, was in Columbus Bluejacket training camp but was unable to reach an agreement with the Bluejacket's affiliate Syracuse. He missed all but one game last year with Milwaukee with a neck injury.

More help is on the way in the form of Aaron Clarke who was also released from his PTO with Binghamton earlier today.

David Brown was placed on the 7-day injured reserve after spraining his knee in Dayton on Saturday.

What's this mean for Kelly Miller? I thought he was "unofficial" player coach. Not a big deal, just don't want any friction to upset chemistry right now. But we must address defense before playoff run. We can't keep giving up 40 shots & 7 goals per game and expect to win. It won't happen, we're not THAT good!

I think by signing Willis as a player/coach it enables Wheeling to use Willis as they please without fear of losing him or having to place him on waivers. Willis will tear it up in the ECHL considering he's scored twenty goals in a season in the NHL with Carolina. Looks like a great signing.

Boomer Ewing and Aaron Clarke will be replacements for Nick Johnson and Tommy Goebel for the All Star Game.

10 GOALS ? The defense better wake up or we'll never shake this losing skid. I watch pass after pass by d in front of our goal crease every game. Have they been told "don't do that"? That would be a good place to start. The way Dayton & Cincy are playing, they may pass us this weekend. SOMEONE STOP THE BLEEDING.

Everyone called up, no defense, Willis blowing through like a dust storm. This is shaping up to be the "perfect storm". Could get ugly like last year when the team took ALL the fun out of the game.
